Moodboard
This is the moodboard for my comic in which I have put together inspiration of different images of what I want the planet where my comic is set on to look like, the colour of the planet, and what the characters will look like too.
Colour scheme
The colour scheme will be mainly purple as the main character Lilactica lives on a purple planet called CK3 where everyone's hair and clothing are pretty much purple. Additionally, these are unrealistic colours for a planet therefore, it links to the sci-fi genre which is imaginative and futuristic which these colours are supposed to be giving off.
The creation of my comic
When creating my comic, I knew that it needed to have a villain who would want to gain power in some sort of way or demolish a threat they think stands in there way as this is what happens in typical superhero comics with the villain character. I knew that because the genre of the comic would be sci-fi that I would therefore, have my main character carry some sort of futuristic/ sci-fi looking gadget that would be the “secret weapon” that would save the day. This appeals to the sci-fi genre because fighting on a futuristic planet with technology that isn’t realistic is what sci-fi is about. It allows for audiences to be taken to another world where things on the sci-fi planet cannot be real in the actual world and this allows for viewers to be imaginative and think outside of the box.
Initial Character sketches
Front, side and back profile of main character
Firstly, a possible original character that I might develop for my comic is Lilactica. Lilactica will have to form a team to beat a powerful villain who wants to destroy her galaxy. Lilactica has to use her powers which are time-warping and travelling through time, alongside special objects to beat the villain and save the galaxy from being demolished. Lilactica will have purple straight hair, purple eyes and purple eyebrows. Additionally, Lilactica is a strong-willed, brave and trustworthy, and works great in a team. Lilactica would be a good main character because it's good to see more female characters in the lead. Furthermore, it breaks the stereotype of a male character always saving the day, and it will attract females and expand the enthusiasm for the comic book genre.
Idea 2 for original character
Additionally, another possible original main character I might develop for my comic is Miradeous who is best friends with the main character Lilactica. Miradeous is a character who has a sharp brain and comes up with all the plans that Lilactica puts into action. They work very well together as a team. Miradeous will have Brown curly hair and brown eyes with glasses. Miradeous would be a good main character as he would appeal to the primary and secondary audience.
Idea 3 for original character
Additionally, another original character that I might want to be the main character in my comic would be Salcious who is a strong, confident and humorous extraterrestrial villain that wants to destroy The Gissorm Galaxy. Salcious will have neon green long hair, green glasses, and a white mostache and goatie. Salcious would be a good main character because it would be fun for audiences to see a comic with the main character being evil and not a typical character who is good and saves the day, therefore, it would be the opposite which is different and enjoyable for audiences to read as the comic doesn't have predictable characters.
Originial main character I've chosen
Finally, I have decided to pick Lilactica as my original main character because I want the main character to be a strong female who fights the villain, as I am trying to steer away from the stereotypical comics where men do a lot of the fighting. Therefore, Lilactica will be my main character who breaks these stereotypes and represents women in a way that they can be strong and powerful, and fight battles just as well as men. In addition, it's my intention to develop an original female character that will expand the female readership of the comic.
Features of character
Lilactica has purple eyes and purple hair. This is because her name is Lilactica suggesting she is going to be a purple character.
Lilactica is 5”7 therefore, she’s not small but she’s not tall, she’s in between.
Additionally, she wears an all black outfit with a bold purple leather jacket. I decided that she would be dressed like this because it’s cool and it’s a modern take on a superhero outfit. It’s very chill yet bold as the jacket stands out and matches her hair and eyes. Furthermore, Lilactica wears black combat boots as in the comic Lilactica is going to fight a villain therefore, combat boots are the perfect footwear to beat an enemy in.
Lilacticas special powers includes being able to warp reality meaning she is able to change reality and remove things from existence. Additionally, Lilactica can also travel through time meaning she can travel to the past, present, or future. These features appeal to the target audience because they can learn more about characters, and also these features link to the genre of sci-fi as special powers is something that is common for a character to have within the sci-fi genre which appeals to the target audience who enjoy sci-fi.
Clothing
Lilatica will wear a black turtle neck top with a purple leather jacket and black bottoms and black combat boots. Her outfit has purple elements in order to match her name being ''Lilactica'' as she is a purple character. Furthermore, Lilactica has an eyebrow piercing in order to give off a confident, bad-ass vibe and shows readers that Lilactica is stern and strong.
Back story
Lilactica is a 16-year-old teenager who lives her life on the planet CK3 which is one of 5 planets in The Gissorm Galaxy. Lilactica is the main character who forms the team to beat the villain Salcious. The powers Lilactica possesses are time-warping abilities meaning she can warp reality and also travel through time. Additionally, she carries a mind control trap gun on her at all times to trap someone and control them instantly in case of an emergency. Furthermore, Lilactica is courageous, knowledgeable, and strong as she has had to support herself from the age of 14 when her parents died unexpectedly.
Unique character traits and/or abilities
Lilactica can warp reality, and she has a special mind control trap gun. Additionally, she is very brave and courageous yet might be blindsided if she sees her rival ex who she still deeply loves. Additionally, Lilactica is very smart and is good at making ideas come to life- she always knows how to formulate a good plan and make it successful. These character traits/abilities help with the narrative because it allows readers to learn more about Lilactica and understand herself better and her personality.
Relationships with other characters
Lilactica has an ex who isn't in the comic, but he is a rival from another planet in The Gissorm Galaxy. He is her rival because the planets don't get along with each other therefore, they aren't on the same side and are seen as rivals from one another. Additionally, Lilactica has a best friend named Miradeous who has been her friend for 3 years ever since he traveled to her planet because he was curious about the other planets in The Gissorm Galaxy and typically you're not allowed to travel to the other planets as they don't get along with each other, but Miradeous can be rebellious and can go undetected easily.
